Integration of all results and assessment of information users? Requirements

Start date: January 2020
Duration: 7 Months

Given the complexity and multidimensional nature of the research object and the various methodological approaches that will be used, an integrative vision is essential. Therefore, the aims of this activity are: – integrate and compare the views of all stakeholders involved in the ACTION project regarding the needs and travel constraints of the ATM, the accessible products offered and the skills developed in UTDP to serve this market;

  • identify strategies that should be implemented in a tourism destination to co-create memorable tourism experiences involving all stakeholders;
  • identify the information requirements of all stakeholders involved in the co-creation of accessible tourism products (ATM, TSA, and HETT).

To accomplish these objectives, first several qualitative and quantitative analyses will be used to integrate all the results obtained in previous activities (1-3) and to compare the different stakeholders’ views. Based on the results of these analyses, a working document with a detailed description of all results will be prepared (M4). Second, this document will be presented in a workshop with the participation of all stakeholders involved in order to:

  • Present and discuss the results obtained;
  • Sensitize all TSA and HETT about the characteristics, relevance, and strategies that should be implemented to overcome structural and attitudinal barriers that the ATM face when taking a tourism trip;
  • Complement the information obtained in the questionnaires administered in the previous activities;
  • Involve all stakeholders in the Web-based intelligent system that will be developed in the next activities (5 and 6).

Finally, given that there are different information needs among the stakeholders involved, three focus groups will be developed in this activity, during October and November of 2019 to complement the results obtained in the previous activities regarding information users’ requirements. Each focus group will have a range of stakeholders including: (PwD) (with different types and levels of disabilities); tourism services providers and intermediaries; social organizations, specialized travel agencies and tour operators, technology companies, researchers and tourism universities. With these focus groups, the ACTION research team intends to sensitize and involve all the stakeholders in the development of a Web-based intelligent system to promote the co-creation of tourism experiences for the ATM. Based on all information collected and analysed, a working document will be prepared and discussed in a global research meeting. This document will be of utmost relevance for the conceptualization of the WBIS (Activity 5).
