Maria João Rosa holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (1996), by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, and a PhD on Industrial Engineering (2003), by the University of Aveiro. She is as an Assistant Professor at the Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism Department of the University of Aveiro, where has been teaching different curricular units, such as Quality Management, Advanced Techniques of Quality Management, Statistical Techniques and Operations Management. She is a senior researcher at CIPES (Centre for Research in Higher Education Policies) and a researcher at GOVCOPP (Competitiveness, Governance and Public Policies). Her main research topics lie in the area of quality management, with a special focus on the education sector. She has been involved in different research projects and has publications in relevant journals in the field. She is co-editor of the books Cost-sharing and Accessibility in Higher Education: A Fairer Deal? (2006), Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Trends in Regulation, Translation and Transformation (2007), Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Contemporary Debates (2014) and Qualidade em Ação (2014). She is a member of EAIR – The European Higher Education Society; a member of CHER – Consortium for Higher Education Researchers ; and an associate member of the APQ (The Portuguese Association for Quality).
